Casino review methodology

Casino scores on RTPBoss are computed from fixed, documented criteria — not from opinion, and not from any commercial relationship.

The score

Each casino gets a score from 0 to 5, in half-point steps. It is the sum of ten criteria worth half a point each. Every criterion is something we can check against documentation, so two people applying the model to the same facts get the same score.

Disclosed editorial adjustments

A small number of casinos carry a disclosed editorial score that overrides the criteria total. This is used sparingly, it is always explained in that casino's own review, and it is never influenced by a commercial relationship. Where no editorial adjustment is noted, the score is purely the criteria sum.

What we check, and how we describe it

  • Operator claims vs our observation. We separate what an operator advertises from what we could document, and we say which is which.
  • Licences are checked against the operator's stated regulator; rubber-stamp registrations are not treated as established regulation.
  • Country availability is recorded where documented, and marked honestly where an operator blocks our checks.
  • Withdrawal times are described as advertised vs documented — we do not claim to have personally tested cashouts.
  • User complaints are not used as a scored input; complaint volumes are hard to verify fairly, so they do not move the number.
  • Bonus terms are summarised from operator documentation; bonus values are not baked into the score because operators change them without notice.

Affiliate separation

The score is computed only from the criteria above. It is not affected by whether RTPBoss has an affiliate relationship with a casino — see the affiliate disclosure.

Limitations

  • The score rewards documented, checkable signals. It is not a substitute for your own due diligence.
  • We do not run independent lab tests of games or payouts, and we do not describe any casino as “independently tested”.
  • Regulation, ownership and terms change; a score reflects what was documented when it was last updated.
  • A future version may move to an explicitly weighted model with hard caps (for example capping an unlicensed operator). That change will be made as a separate, audited update — the current model is the flat criteria sum described here.
